No Response
8 days later, no response from any Senator to my question about what authorizes congress to require any American to purchase health insurance.
The Illusion of Representative Government
Robert Ringer on just how much power voters really have: http://blog.robertringer.com/2009/10/13/the-illusion-of-representation/
Lysander Spooner, 19th century individualist and political philosopher, eloquently argued that the United Sates Constitution was not binding on future generations since they neither agreed to it nor signed it. This position horrifies those who believe that the Constitution was needed to protect “the people” by placing limits on government.

Below is a response to the recent comments I received from you: Dear Mr. Samples: Thank you for sharing your views on healthcare reform. In the coming months, Congress will deal with a great number of issues critically important to the future of our nation. One of the largest issues is how to reform our system of health care. I support affordability and access to quality health care. Right now, the costs are too high and too many people don’t have health insurance; the solution can't be worse than the problem. Any attempts at reform should not destroy the high quality of care we have in the United States. Reform elements need to contain costs, preserve access to quality care, and avoid adding to an already overwhelming federal deficit. I am studying all of the healthcare reform options before the Senate and you can be sure I will make the best decisions I can for the people of Florida and the rest of the nation.
It is an honor and privilege to serve the people of the great State of Florida in the United States Senate. I take great pride in being a native Floridian, and I look forward to the tremendous opportunity to better the lives of all Floridians. I assure you I will work hard to represent our state to the best of my ability in the U.S. Senate. If I can be of any help to you, please do not hesitate to contact me. Sincerely,
George S. LeMieux United States Senator

Continental Congress 2009
Beginning November 16, I will be an alternate delegate from Tennessee to the Continental Congress 2009. Starting November 12, at 9:15AM Eastern Time, live broadcasts of the proceedings can be seen here. Learn more about this important event on their web site, which includes this discription:
For two weeks in November, delegates representing The People of the fifty states will join together in the tradition of the Founding Fathers and their Continental Congress of 1774. Continental Congress 2009 will convene as a national assembly of We The People and attest to the increasing abuses of our Governing Documents. Together, we will decide what peaceful, legal steps can be taken to bring about compliance with our Freedom documents
